How to be the GREATEST Historic Place in Austin

“How to be the Greatest Historic Place in Austin” Vol. 1, First Edition 2020 with errata, shares with readers, Laura Fowler’s deep love for, and understanding of, historic place ownership and management. Underwritten by a 2019 grant from Preservation Austin to Millett’s Opera House Foundation, “How To Be The Greatest Historic Place in Austin” short courses begin at Historic Millett’s Opera House April 2020. Students and readers will be empowered with the knowledge they need, to avoid costly mistakes others made, who owned or managed historic places.
Laura has donated her time, waived all fees and expenses. All book sale and registration proceeds will be donated to Millett’s Opera House Foundation. Food and beverage service for the courses will be provided by the award winning professional team of The Austin Club. In continuous operation since 1949, The Austin Club has been a general benefactor of Millett’s Opera House since 1979. More than $3, 000,000.00 of The Austin Club member funds underwrote multiple renovations beginning in 1979, which saved Millett’s Opera House from the wrecker ball of demolition.
Located at 110 E. 9th Street, Millett’s Opera House offer FREE parking in its attached garage to guests attending Millett’s Opera
House events, beginning at 4:30 PM each weekday afternoon, all day and evening Saturday and Sunday.
