Ryan Wesley Lione grew up in a family of law and real estate. Learning about the law in his father’s law office began when he was only two years old.  Even as a teenager, Ryan spent time in the family business doing everything from making photocopies to punching holes in files.  Years later, Ryan would work as a law clerk in his father’s office prior to beginning his M.B.A. program and going to law school.

Growing up in Austin, Ryan attended North Oaks Elementary, Canyon Vista Middle School, Westwood High School (freshman & sophomore years), and eventually Anderson High School (junior & senior years), playing football, baseball, and basketball.

Ryan earned a Bachelors in Business Administration from St. Edwards University, a Master’s in Business Administration from Texas State University, then simultaneously earned both a Masters in International Relations and a Juris Doctorate(JD) from St. Mary’s Law School in San Antonio, where he earned recognition as Senior Law Review Editor and Outstanding Staff Writer, graduating in the top ten percent (10%) of his law school class in 2008. His focus and interest throughout was on corporate, tax and business transaction law, including a summer internship at the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) in Fort Worth in the securities law enforcement division.

Ryan’s remarkable career has included serving as in-house counsel to the largest nonprofit hospital in Denver Colorado, working with the Pediatric Mental Health Institute advising primarily on business and administrative matters in health law and prior thereto, serving as a tax specialist providing legal and tax advice on a broad array of federal, state and local tax matters to business clients nationwide.

Ryan does find time to enjoy life. When he was younger, he was a competitive bodybuilder, weightlifter, and held a private license as a personal trainer; he still enjoys working out regularly.  In 2012 he started training in Mixed Martial Arts, Muay Thai kickboxing, and boxing in various gyms in Colorado with professional UFC, boxing, and Muay Thai fighters, which is a big passion of his today.  Currently, he trains at the Brazilian Fight Factory in North Austin.  He also enjoys playing golf and is an avid sports fan with the San Antonio Spurs, Texas Rangers, and Denver Broncos being his favorite teams.  In addition to watching team sports, Ryan can also be found watching all of the big UFC and boxing fights as he is an avid fight fan as well.

Another one of Ryan’s major interests is investing.  He previously held a Series 7 Securities License and worked as a financial advisor before deciding to pursue a career in business and law.  He is currently learning how to trade options with the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) as a hobby.  Ryan is also an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction, although his favorites are non-fiction books on astrophysics, cosmology, religion, and finance.

Ryan obviously loves helping innovative start ups like Orf Brewing!
