A fifth generation Texan, Ms. Cofty grew up in El Paso and graduated from Coronado High School in 1976. She earned her B.B.A. with a major in marketing and public relations in just three years from the University of Texas at El Paso , where she also developed her creative talents, obtaining a minor in modern dance. Combining her artistic abilities with a sharp intellect for business, Ms. Cofty began her career in Bank Marketing and Public Relations, served as Marketing Director for Society for the Performing Arts in Houston directing the in-house advertising agency, and later returned to the Banking Industry as a bank officer marketing asset products for Bank of America.
In 1995, Ms. Cofty left the world of marketing to pursue her J.D. and M.B.A. at the University of New Mexico where she was the sole member of her graduating class to earn both J.D. and M.B.A. degrees simultaneously. While in law school, Ms. Cofty was a contributing writer and managed publicity for the law school's Wildlife Law Journal. Ms. Cofty began her legal career as a solo practitioner, practicing in areas of family law, mediation, criminal juvenile law, and employment matters.
